BG - Justin, Mike & Matt
MIKE LUMSDEN - Mike grew up in Trenton, Nova Scotia and is a graduate of the Pictou County Minor Hockey system. In the early 90's, Mike joined the Port Hawkesbury Pirates of the Nova Scotia Junior B Hockey League. During a 2 year stint with the Pirates, Mike back stopped his team to their first Jr. B title in 15 years. In both seasons Mike was the starting goaltender in the Jr. B All-Star games. He was awarded the rookie of the year and voted most dedicated player.
Mike is the goalie coach with the Truro Jr A Bearcats and Port Hawkesbury Jr B Strait Pirates. He is Director of Goalie Development at Allie MacDonald's Hockey School in Antigonish NS. Breakaway Goaltending also provides development for Truro, Debert, and Pictou County Minor Hockey Associations. Mike is very passionate about sharing the "Breakaway Goaltending System" that provides a foundation to encourage development and foster success for young goaltenders.

Justin Collier - Justin is from Halifax and currently playing with the St Thomas University Tommies. Justin is a graduate from the Maritime Jr A Hockey league. Justin is passionate about the game and enjoys giving back to the community. He has been working over the years as an instructor all over North America in his off season. Justin has been trained by some of the top goalie coaches in the world such as François Allaire and Dominic Roussel.

Matt Schlotzhauer - Matt is from Waterloo Ontario. He played his minor hockey at the AAA level for the Waterloo Wolves. Attended both OHL under 16 and under 17 camps. He has been trained by goalie coach François Allaire (Toronto Maple Leafs). Matt signed with the Oshawa Generals but has decided to come to Nova Scotia to attend St FX University. He is in his second year of his Bachelor of Business Administration with plans to plans to receive a CFA or entertain law school back in Ontario. He has worked at a training facility in Ontario called The Zone for the past three years as a goalie instructor. Matt is playing hockey with the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates in the Nova Scotia Jr. B Hockey League.

Joe Chabassol - Joe is our Training & Conditioning Specialist. Joe graduated from Dalhousie University in 1999 where he obtained his Kinesiology Degree with emphasis on Exercise Science and Movement Analysis. While attending Dalhousie, he was the lead strength & conditioning coach for the varsity swim team where he helped many athletes set personal bests, AUAA and CIAU records as well as winning individual and team championships.
Upon graduation he continued to following his passion for sports as he worked throughout North America perfecting his specialty for Strength Conditioning and Athlete Performance Improvement. He has gone on to develop strength & conditioning programs for NHL, CIAU and Canada Games teams in addition to being a consultant for fitness clubs, gyms, personal trainers and conditioning centres. To date, he has trained athletes and champions from the NHL, CHL, CIAU, NCAA, MMA, Boxing, Strong Man Competitors and countless other clients looking to improve their fitness, conditioning and health goals.
Since 2005, Joe has been the Head Professor at Eastern College where he teaches the exercise science program for students wanting to become Health & Fitness Professionals. While there, he wrote and developed the Exercise Science Curriculum that is taught in several colleges throughout Canada for the purpose of developing Fitness Professionals. Today, Joe is sought after by clients, athletes, other trainers and fitness centres seeking his experience and knowledge and he is thrilled to bring those skills to Breakaway Goaltending.
